Dr. Mark Mobius is seen by many as the father of the emerging markets asset class. He has a reputation as one of the most successful and influential managers over the past 30 years. He is the chairman of the Mobius Emerging Opportunities Fund.
Prior to this, Dr. Mobius spent more than 30 years at Franklin Templeton Investments, where he was most recently executive chairman of the Templeton Emerging Markets Group. During his tenure, the group grew its AUM from $100 million to over $50 billion and launched a number of emerging market and frontier funds focusing on Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Eastern Europe. He has also authored a number of books, including Passport to Profits, The Little Book of Emerging Markets, The Inflation Myth and the Wonderful World of Deflation, and The Book of Wealth. He was also featured in a Japanese manga, Mark Mobius: An Illustrated Biography of the Father of Emerging Markets Funds. His career and influence have earned him numerous industry awards.
He received his PhD from MIT and master’s and bachelor’s degrees at Boston University. He also studied at the University of Wisconsin, Syracuse University, Kyoto University, and the University of New Mexico.
